Guest InformationWe welcome you and hope you will feel comfortable; but we know an unfamiliar place can be intimidating. This is what you can expect when you honor us with a visit.
Background: We strive to be a Bible-centered church, but we know that our con-clusions aren't flawless, and that our practices are sometimes colored by habit, pre-ference, tradition, or convenience.
The Setting: When entering the "Worship Center,” you will find rows of chairs for the worshipers. There are no reserved seats, so feel free to sit anywhere you choose.
Singing: Songs are projected on the walls for your convenience. You may also turn to that number in the hymnbook. One of the unique things about churches of Christ is that the music is "a cappella”.
Prayers: There will be several prayers during the service.
Lord's Supper: Sunday mornings the Lord's Supper is included in the service. Plates containing pieces of unleavened bread will be passed throughout the congrega-tion. The bread symbolizes the body of Jesus. Next, trays filled with small cups of grape juice will be distributed. This symbolizes the blood Jesus shed for us. If you choose not to participate, don't be embarrassed. Feel free to just pass the plate or tray to the person next to you.
Offering: Also, on Sunday mornings, containers will be passed to collect the weekly financial offering. As our guest, you are not expected to make a donation. Feel free to pass the plate down the row.
Preaching: Our preacher doesn't have a special title, or wear special robes. He won't be referred to as Pastor or Reverend. He will probably be referred to as brother or just called by his first name. The sermon will likely be from 20 to 30 mi-nutes.
Invitation: After the sermon, the preacher may "extend an invitation” for those that are moved to make a commitment or to request prayers for support. Those people will come to the front of the Worship Center during a hymn. Don't feel ill at ease during this invitation. You will not be singled out in any way. If anyone requests to be baptized, you can be a witness to the baptism immediately after service. The baptism will be by immersion for the remission of sins.
What Will Be Expected of You: Nothing at all! You are welcome to participate. But don't feel obligated. Just observe if that is your choice.
